Viewing Grant Proposal: City of Grand Rapids-Butterworth Landfill Solar Site

The City plans to develop solar-powered electricity at the Butterworth Landfill (400 Garfield Ave SW Grand Rapids, MI 49504) and supply it behind-the-meter to City-owned and operated Primary Circuit (PC), aiming to be operational in 2027. 1–2 megawatts of solar can be developed on 5-10 acres at the Site and directly supply the PC, at an estimated cost of $5 million. This grant request is asking for $1.7 million to fund solar panel design and engineering with $1 million towards construction.
