Viewing Grant Proposal: BioWorks Energy-CoDigestion and Anaerobic Digester-Combined Heat and Power-REVISED
BioWorks Energy proposes installing anaerobic digestion and power production infrastructure at the
City of Saginaw wastewater treatment plant. The improvements will process food waste and sewage
sludge to produce renewable electricity and hot water. BioWorks plans to retrofit existing unused tanks
at the plant with the necessary improvements needed to use them as anaerobic digesters for this codigestion. From there, the increased biogas produced from co-digestion will be utilized for combined
heat and power electricity generation. BioWorks anticipates installing a combined heat and power
(CHP) system with a rated electrical power capacity of 550-kW and 900 kW of thermal (hot water).
